PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes I to Xerxes II, circa 455-420 BC. Siglos (Silver, 17 mm, 5.57 g), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes or subsidiary mint. Persian king or hero in kneeling/running stance to right, holding dagger in his right hand and bow in his left. Rev. Rectangular incuse punch. BMC Arabia pl. XXVI, 10. Carradice Type IV A (pl. XIII, 35). Bright and attractive, a beautiful example. Minor area of weakness on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
